Code of Conduct

CanWest Industrial Support Services (CanWest) has taken a leadership role in regard to critical issues impacting the industrial and commercial construction industries, specifically our involvement in training and recruiting skilled trades workers for jobs across Canada.

We have adopted the following Code of Professional Conduct which applies to all employees of CanWest as well as any skilled trades workers recruited by CanWest.

All employees & recruits commit to conduct themselves in a safe, professional manner at all times. Failure to do so could result in immediate termination and a permanent no re-hire from CanWest. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards any actions that place other workers in hazardous situations or reflect poorly on CanWest or the employees, recruits or agents of CanWest.

As a company engaged in the business of providing construction and project management services, CanWest makes the following promises about the way our employees, recruits, agents & assigns conduct themselves at all times – on and off the job site:

1. Client Service.

CanWest will serve all clients with honesty, integrity, candor, and objectivity. CanWest will provide all services with competence, using reasonable care, skill and diligence consistent with the interests of the client and the applicable standard of care.

2. Representation of Qualifications and Availability.

CanWest will only accept assignments which our experience and availability warrants. Experienced and professional staff will be assigned to all projects initiated, or accepted, by CanWest to ensure each project receives the maximum level of attention and coordination. CanWest will not accept a project unless absolutely confident in our ability to complete the job on time and on budget.

3. Standards of Practice.

CanWest will furnish our services in a manner consistent with the established and accepted standards of the industries in which we participate, and with the laws and regulations which govern its practice.

4. Fair Competition.

CanWest will represent our project experience accurately to all prospective clients and offer services and staff that we am capable of delivering. CanWest will develop a professional reputation on the basis of our direct experience and services provided, and we will only engage in fair competition for assignments.

5. Conflicts of Interest.

CanWest will endeavour to avoid conflicts of interest; and will disclose conflicts which in the opinion of the managing person may impair CanWest’s objectivity or integrity.

6. Fair Compensation.

CanWest will negotiate fairly and openly with our clients in establishing a basis for compensation, and will charge fees and expenses that are reasonable and commensurate with the services to be provided and the responsibilities and risks to be assumed.

7. Release of Information.

CanWest will only make statements that are truthful, and will keep all information and records confidential when appropriate and protect the proprietary interests of our clients and professional colleagues.

8. Public Welfare.

CanWest will not discriminate in the performance of services on the basis of race, religion, national origin, age, disability, or sexual orientation. We will not knowingly violate any law, statute, or regulation in the performance of our professional services.

9. Professional Development.

CanWest will continue to develop our professional knowledge and competency, and will contribute to the advancement of the construction and project management practice as a profession by fostering research and education and through the encouragement of fellow practitioners.

10. Integrity of the Profession.

CanWest will avoid actions which promote our own self-interest at the expense of the profession, and we will uphold the standards of the construction management profession with honor and dignity.
